Snow Shoveling
HinghamLink is happy to announce a new service to find volunteers who can help with snow shoveling and connect them with senior citizens and people with disabilities who are living independently in their own homes, but need some help clearing their walks after each snowfall.
This service is not intended for large driveways, as that would be too much to ask of a single volunteer with a shovel after a heavy storm, but instead is intended for walkways, decks, etc. This will allow seniors to get in and out of their homes safely, as well as to receive mail and package deliveries.
Based on people’s feedback, we’re creating a separate sign-up for snow shoveling because the general “Need Help / Want to Help” sign-up is intended more for a variety of things like grocery shopping, picking up prescriptions, and other small errands. For our volunteers, we’re planning on you helping the same senior with each snowfall, instead of changing every time.
As a reminder, HinghamLink now has sign-ups for things like:
>> Snow Shoveling: recipient / volunteer
>> Rides to Mass Vaccination Sites: recipient / volunteer
>> Leaf Raking: recipient / volunteer
>> Trash Pick-up: recipient / volunteer
>> General Help: recipient / volunteer
>> Friendly Phone Calls: recipient / volunteer
